Time to Windex & Rhode Island Challenge

I have no idea how I produced this picture, but I am fascinated about the neon colors in it. I blindly snapped the picture from my lap in the car; I will windex the inside of my windshield soon.

The Rhode Island Challenge is a CUA tradition of holding onto the metro bars from the moment the doors close at Rhode Island Ave Metro station until the doors open at CUA/ Brookland. This is a prospective student event only 2 (out of 50) successfully completed the challenge! Self critique- I wish I had gotten the first boy's hands in the shot.

Assignment Two- The Unseen

The task at hand:
To capture objects that are around us day to day, but don't necessarily "see". Another interpretation of this is to take a picture of details that may not reveal the object.

Who knew there was life in January? I guess the 70 degree weather confused the plants!

Rabbit holes

This is the back of my apartment/row house. It was hard to capture this since it was so dark outside! I make sure to hold the camera very steady, since my first 5 attempts were fuzzy. I like the angles of the staircases here, and the spooky lighting.

Eastern Market overhang

I am not too pleased with this picture, but the face on the tree is too charming.

Assignment One- Life on Campus

The task: Quite literally, my life on campus.

I work in McMahon Hall in the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
This plant has been alive in our office for about a year- It lives on my co-workers desk because he gets light! I love how the shadow from the blinds hits the leaves of the plant. Oh, and the bobble head was a gift from a visitor to campus (The TV Play by Play announcer for the Phillies!)
The endless hallway (and loft) in the office. The light bulbs are yellow in the foreground and white/blue in the distance.

The turn dial for a vault in the office. (Where we hide all of the gold bricks.)

The view from McMahon. I like how the photos really highlight the sky, especially since the Basilica turned out a little darker then planned. They are slightly different- one shows the whole circle/3 flagpoles, the other shows the basilica. Which is better?

Class time- Unseen

I am so excited that I was pulled off the waitlist so I could be a part of this class! Although I started a bit late, I hope to be all caught up as soon as possible. I liked our first class, and our half hour adventure around the library to capture photos of the "unseen".

Book tabs

One of the lights is out! I like the lighting here, and the way the chandelier is 'cropped' by the ceiling lines. ( It was my favorite photo!)

This is a desk I wonder how old it is!
